Hearing with full attention

“If a person heard properly, very carefully, with full attention then he will be able to repeat those words at a later date. But if the hearing process is not proper then one will not be able to hear properly, nor one will be able to repeat properly.”

Purifying holyname

“This Kaliyuga is a very degraded time and polluting. At the same time the most important thing is, how purifying the holy name is and how by chanting Hare Krishna everybody becomes not only spiritually satisfied but they become completely materially protected from the influences of time, which shows that if we get the whole world to chant Hare Krishna we will get so many benefits in this world.”

Preparing for the next life

Unfortunately, people in general do not know what is to take place in the next life. Even influential professors and other educators saying that do not believe in the next life and claiming that as soon as the body is finished, everything is finished.

This atheistic philosophy is killing human civilization. People are irrespondsibly performing all sorts of sinful activity, and thus the privilege of the human life is being taken away by the educational propaganda of the so-called leaders. Actually it is a fact that this life is meant for preparation for the next life; by evolution one has to come through many species, or forms, and this human form of life is an opportunity to promote oneself to a better life.

Committing Offences

“Sometimes we chant, we commit offenses, so we don’t get an effect. So many people are chanting Rama nama or Krishna nama, but because they’re committing offenses, they’re not able to actually make progress.”

Golden Age

“Now is the sun-rising of the Golden Age. But you should do whatever you can to hurry it up! Take this opportunity to bring in quickly the Golden Age. Haribol! Nitai Gaura!”

Becoming dear to Krishna

“If one follows the four regulative principles very strictly, chants japa regularly and everyday engages in some devotional service, they become very dear to Krishna and are firmly fixed on the path of vaidi bhakti. According to the Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu, if one tries to improve and render more sincere service to guru and Krishna, there is a hope for raganuga bhakti. Practicing raganuga bhakti takes one to bhava bhakti or ecstatic love for Krishna, which in turn, in due course of time, leads one to pure love of Krishna or Krishna prema. These are perfection levels of bhakti yoga.”

“It’s not enough that we’re born in a Hindu family, or that we even accept guru or initiation, or born in a family of a devotee. We have to actually understand the science.”

Effect of mantra

“Mantra is just like fire, if you put your hand in fire you will be burned, in the same way if you chant the mantra properly, somehow or another if the vibration comes from the mouth, it will have its effect, therefore it’s not simply some type of artificial process, it is not an imposition on the mind, because otherwise it would not be possible that even without knowledge, even without practice, even if you are skeptical, even then by chanting, there’s an effect.”

Performing Krishna Duty

“We know that grihastas have so many things to do. They have their work duties, spouse duties, children duties, in-laws duties, also the political party duties… duty after duty. Well, we are so grateful to them if they do their Krishna duty, and they chant Hare Krishna, and they also try to distribute the books and distribute the message of Lord Caitanya.”

A good effect

“We need some brahminical minded grihasthas also to do some seva to help the society to be more spiritualized. You may do like a full time activities or you may work outside, maintain your family, but do Bhakti Vriksha, do some house programs. That has also a good effect – people see that like me he is married, he is working but he is peaceful and happy. He is chanting the Holy Names of Krishna, so why don’t we also chant, husband and wife together.”

So this holy name has so much power, we cannot begin to estimate it. So we also want to chant every day and we want people to somehow or another, chant. I request people to chant 108 times Hare Krishna every day. I give them a counter. So then they chant and if they like then they chant 2 rounds, 3 rounds. Then I ask them how are you doing now? Oh, today I am chanting only 4 rounds. I say oh! 4 rounds! That is 2.5 million a year! Names of Krishna! You are a multi-millionaire! So I will chant 8 rounds then they say! So just trying to encourage people to chant, eventually, they will get up to 16 rounds.

So like this, this kirtan mela we are listening and chanting Hare Krishna for five days. So this is to get purified. So this chanting here at the dham of Lord Caitanya purifies the whole world.

How can I learn to depend on guru and Krishna in every circumstance?

He is asking, ‘how to?’ How to depend on Krishna? These ‘how to’ questions, all these things are in the natural process of devotional service. Ho w to get a taste for chanting? How to practice dev service? It is in Nectar Of Devotion, it is in every book we read. And we develop such a thing gradually. But if you try to develop these qualities, depending on Krishna, associate or follow the footsteps of people that are already depending on Krishna, and then you will be able to do it very quickly. But if you don’t have anyone to follow, that depends on Krishna, then you can practice yourself. But there could be a few slips on the way. You know, if you use your intelligence, then what can you depend on? By selective process you can see that there is nothing that is dependable. There is no one else who is fixed, other than Krishna. So naturally we should depend on Him. If we depend on something else, the president, your member of the legislative assembly, Ha!, your member of parliament, your doctor, all have their limitations. Only Krishna is unlimited. So if you depend on Him, He reciprocates and He protects us. If we depend on something else, like Draupadi, she was holding on to her saree and Dushaasan was pulling. He is a maharathi, she is a woman. Then she just realized I can’t fight it, I have to depend on Krishna. So she raised her hands and said Keshava! Krishna! Keshava! Krishna! and her crying was so sincere, that Krishna became her unlimited saree! So she could not be disgraced in the Kuru assemble. Bhima, at that moment he vowed that he would really kill this guy. Kshatriyas they do such things.

Loud Chanting is very effective

“By serving others, by bringing them closer to Krsna–Krsna is especially merciful– and one gets forgiven for offenses. When one gets forgiven for offenses, the path of devotional service becomes very easy and one advances most quickly. Also, therefore loud chanting is more effective.”

Most Important item in devotion to Krishna

“Of the 64 items (of devotional practice), there are some items which are very important. Out of all those items, if you have to pick the most important, then it should be this nama sankirtana. You should engage in the congregational chanting of the holy names of Krishna, because that can be done whether a person is pure or impure, clean or unclean, no matter what circumstances, what situation he is in, he can engage in nama sankirtana.”

Hare Krishna Maha Mantra

“Even if one didn’t know what chanting Hare Krishna meant, if he just repeated the vibration again and again, the effect would be there, and it is there. It is not necessary that one has to know what it means because the Hare Krishna mantra is a vibration which is especially meant to deliver the consciousness and to awaken it to it’s original state of pure spiritual happiness and revelation.”

Yukta Vairagya

“By chanting you get the mercy. So, people should take advantage, chant Hare Krishna and engage in devotional service. And also if you are a grihastha, get your children, and your wife or your husband also to chant. So the idea is to practice yukta vairaagya – to use everything in Krishna’s service and in this way, you can achieve all the benefits.”

Constantly Chanting

“One should chant nirantara – constantly – kirtaniya sada hari. sarala bhava se hari bhaje – with a pure mind, with a simple mind one should chant the holy name, worship the holy name, taste the nectar of the holy name. This is a process so one can constantly be absorbed in thoughts about the Lord, the transcendental personality, Sri Krsna.”

Chanting Loudly

“One of the basic feature of the chanting is that while you are chanting and delivering your own consciousness, because you are chanting out loud you are helping others to deliver their consciousness or to advance closer in their relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead.”
