Go Beyond The Material World*

*
The process of mystic yoga, ultimately you can get to one point, but then you can’t get beyond it. If you want to go beyond that, ultimately you have to surrender to Kṛṣṇa. Then you can actually be totally transcendental. With mystic powers you have the ability to manipulate the material world by your own psychic spiritual potency, but to actually go beyond the material world, you have to become a pure devotee.

The satisfied sages*

The soul can be satisfied by Kṛṣṇa, because we are part of Krsna. So spiritually, as an eternal living entity, eternal soul, through the process of Krsna conscious bhakti yoga through meditation, through devotional service, through chanting , we can be satisfied. In the past, so many great sages, so many great devotees, all became satisfied.

*We can be satisfied by Krsna*

one through higher intelligence understands, “Ultimately, I am never gonna be satisfied simply by this body,” one can decide, “Therefore let me realise the real spiritual satisfaction.” That is that we can be satisfied spiritually, because Krsna is much greater than us souls. We can be satisfied by Krsna. But the mind can never be satisfied by this body; nor can the mind satisfy the soul. But the soul can be satisfied by Kṛṣṇa, because we are part of Krsna.

Pain Free Spritual world

Where there is no separation between time and space. There’s immediate connection between everything. The soul is directly perceiving, but it has a form in order to act. But there, there’s no suffering, there’s no birth; there’s no death. But in the material world, that soul-form, becomes dormant and put back into a “spark” form, seed. And in the body, there’s a small seed. So when that … like a little star … a little light … But in the body … the body is going through these changes. It’s feeling that it’s going to be destroyed. So one feels the pain of birth, the pain of old age, disease and death, and then again re-birth. But this pain cannot exist in the spiritual world.

The Lord’s Abode

**

The Lord is the full-fledged form of eternity, bliss and knowledge, but the formless brahmajyoti is simply eternity and knowledge. The Vaikuṇṭha planets are also forms of eternity, bliss and knowledge, and therefore the devotees of the Lord, who are admitted into the abode of the Lord, also get bodies of eternity, bliss and knowledge. As such there is no difference between one and another. The Lord’s abode, name, fame, entourage, etc., are of the same transcendental quality.

*The Eternal Spiritual World*

In the material world the form and action is all under the time factor. Therefore, everything has a past, present and a future. So everything has a beginning and an end. But the time factor doesn’t exist in the spiritual world. There everything is perpetually existing, eternally. To create the material world, Kṛṣṇa has created an energy known as Time. Time does not exist as we know it in the spiritual world. Things go on there. It’s not this is the beginning. Everything always existed.

*The fourth dimension*

Bhagavan is something categorically different. So for someone who is too attached to the impersonal, they may have to go a very gradual understanding and first understand the greatness of God and then gradually come into understanding His personal feature. And someone who is more open minded, more intelligent, they can immediately see that this material world is a reflection of the spiritual world. Reflection is two dimensional, the original object is three, the material world is three dimensional, and the spiritual world is the fourth dimension. In the fourth dimension these inebrieties don’t stand. So the same problems we find here with form and shape, there we don’t have those difficulties because there form and shape are also not limited to size, it goes beyond that.

Back to God head

Srila Prabhupad said you have to be one or the other, either you are life member or you are a devotee. Not that you are both. If you are a life member then that is one thing, you get formal respect but if you are a devotee then we don’t consider like that, all devotees have the same right to go back to Godhead if they remain fixed in their Krishna consciousness.

what is real independence?

If I catch one of the boys, then he wants to get free. Then he may say I am free. So if you are caught up by a foreign rule then we rule ourselves. Then we said we got independence or freedom. But Bhagavad-Gita says, that in this world there is one supreme energy known as maya or Prakiti. And we all under the governing of that material energy. prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni guṇaiḥ karmāṇi sarvaśaḥ So even if you are under one foreign rule or our own rule or some other rule, that’s mean, we are free from the rule of nature. So the Bhagavad-Gita said that our struggle for freedom is not over until we are free ourselves from the bondage of birth, death, old age, and disease. That is the ultimate independence struggle which everyone in the world had to die for. But that struggle you have to do individually one by one with the help of the guru, of the teachers, and of the parents.

The higher truth – Krishna

When the Supreme Godhead comes from His spiritual abode to this material world, whether someone else, he came in other form before or after, that doesn’t reflect on who is the supreme. That relative, that sequence what does that make any difference? What that… This is a prison house. Then can visit whenever they want. Who come first who comes later… that is irrelevant. We have to know who is the supreme, not by the chronology – that who came before who came after. But from the supreme Lord Himself. He’ll say which is the original form. Mata parataram na anyat kincit – that is no higher truth than I am.

Transfer to the spiritual sky

Krishna says Janma karma ca me divyam – that My appearance and My activities are transcendental. Divyam. Janma karma ca me divyam evam yo vetti tattvata and someone who knows in truth the nature of my birth and activities Tyaktvam deham punar janma naiti mam iti so arjuna. That when they give up this body again they don’t have to take birth again in the material world. So simply if you know… actually the nature of Krishna, His appearance, His lila, His activity, you don’t have to take birth again in this world. That’s enough to transfer you back to the spiritual sky. But don’t just take this on face value.

The ever vital, ever youthful – the eternal spiritual body

You hear that the God is unlimited, the omnipotent, then you say that “God has come down on this earth, they say how is it possible?” But how is it impossible? If God can do anything, then why can’t he come down? In fact, one devotee, in New York, has published different quotes from the bible, and there are surprising, in one of the prayers, I think Solomon, he was praying, that my Lord is for ever youthful. That His lotus feet, that He has feet, His toe nails are just like pearls. And the same description you’ll find in the Vedic literatures. But somehow, in the Saint Peters uh… What’s that – they call the Basilica or something? There they have the picture of God, with a big old beard. Because, if He is the oldest, then He must get old and wrinkled.

They don’t realize that God is oldest, but He doesn’t need a material body which has built in obsolescence. Everyone in this country would love to have the perpetual light bulbs, the cars which never breaks down. Except, of course for the manufacturers, as this is not good for their cash flow. But all the consumers would love to have something like that. So, similarly, everyone likes to have a body which will never grow old, which should always stay youthful. Because that’s what the eternal spiritual body is. It’s a body, it’s a form that never changes. It never grows old. It simply remains ever vital, ever youthful. It doesn’t require to go through these different transformations, which are existing here in this material world. So, we should understand this and very patiently, if somebody wants to hear about Krishna and if they are willing to listen, then we can explain. Cause, if they don’t want to really hear about Krishna, if we try to explain to them, they turn a deaf ear, or they immediately start firing off other questions. Before hearing yours, your replies. Then that is actually indicative that they are not actually inclined in knowing anything, they are simply trouble makers. So, what’s the use of wasting our time arguing. We are willing to discuss, to have an exchange, a communication, to try to convince one another, “What is the absolute Truth”? but if somebody is dogmatic, he only wants to speak, he doesn’t want to hear. We have no time to hear such people. Yes, we were willing to hear someone’s questions and willing to answer the questions. But not willing simply to extend our valuable breaths, when someone is not listening. Better as such is to talk to a tree, because the tree would actually benefit.

what is the meaning of success?

what is to be successful, but if you have, this, this, this material things, then you are successful, and then it may… you are not going to be happy, you might, you may have a big house, but you know, you may get divorced, you may have, many children but they may all become you know misled… misguided, or you may have this but they all… become very frustrating, and then… you know, so in other words, just to suit this misguided society they have created false standards of success. The Vedic standard is very simple, person should be happy, if you are not happy what is the meaning of success? And happiness for a human being simply on the animalistic level is not going to be a complete happiness, even if temporarily one is… already feels happy or feels somewhat feels some pleasures, but then that pleasure you can get in the animal kingdom, so what’s going to happen is that, yes regress back into the reincarnation, back into the animal kingdom.

So by somehow or another, awakening them to their spiritual identity, to their spiritual uh, future, they these people in this world they are given the best opportunity to come up to so much difficulty to the human species. It’s meant that from here we should go back to Godhead. We should go back to Krishna. This is what every prophet, son of God, holy man, guru, acarya, incarnation throughout the ages has said, that we should return to the kingdom of God, we should become God conscious, we should become purified, we should… you see, but they had to deal with different people in different situations, in different countries, so their specific advices to their followers may have uh, on the fine points diversed, but the goal of uh, being God conscious or going back to God on the ultimate issue. Somewhere in all these religious books, that the human being should become purified and return back to the kingdom of God, that is mentioned somewhere there it’s… it’s the goal, but uh, unfortunately people, they miss the opportunity, so the system of Vedic civilization was geared so that… the whole system of Vedic culture is geared so that the person can ultimately become purified from animalistic, materialistic, life and become elevated to the spiritual platform, can actually go forward, and not go backward, it’s the tamasa ma, jyotir gama, leave the ignorance, leave the darkness, and go into the light, go towards the Absolute Truth. Athatho brahma jijnasa, inquire today, now, at this moment about the Absolute Truth.

can they attain complete liberation without being married?

Without being married, there’s no such stipulation that liberation is dependant upon getting married, but it has been recommended very strongly that, women should be married, but as far as… what if a girl dies when she is twelve, or something? It’s not… It’s not a lien on her soul that you have to get married to go back to Godhead. It’s a question of what consciousness you’re in when you leave your body. If you’re in Krishna consciousness, you’ll go back to Godhead.

In a general sadhana practice of devotional service, it’s conducive for women to be married and have a Krishna conscious husband. If the husband’s not Krishna conscious, then there’s a problem there. But actually the husband should be Krishna conscious and the wife should be Krishna conscious. In this way, we give each other association. To elaborate, we’re a little bit short on the time right now, but it’s not contingent on going back to Godhead, per se. That is not contingent on any material thing.

It’s contingent on chanting Hare Krishna, serving the spiritual master, following his instructions.

Krishna conscious – culmination of all yogas

The Krishna conscious movement has got a very specific goal of bringing the condition souls to their full original spiritual consciousness, and for creating in the world, an atmosphere most conducive for the general population to make a grada… step by step advancement back to home, back to Godhead. So, to do this, we cannot compromise, you see, our basic principles. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t know all about every practice of yoga. We know the practice of yoga, we know when it’s practiced properly, when it’s not practiced properly. We know the different stages, this things are all revealed in our scriptures. It’s a very scientific process, and bhakti-yoga is the… or the yoga of devotion which we practice, Krishna consciousness, is the culmination of all the yogas. So it contains all the essential facets of all the yogas, and bhakti-yoga is contained in all of the yogas.

The Devotional creeper grows simply by the gardener

The Devotional creeper, finally it takes shelter of Radha and Krishna. There, at the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna, when it takes shelter, then that creeper expands and it produces so many flowers and so many fruits. Those flowers and fruits are again distributed to so many other devotees, and innocent people. So, in this way, the devotional creeper grows simply by the gardener, or the devotee watering while serving here, in the material world.

Little advancement

Even if a person just makes a little advancement in Krishna consciousness in this life, whether we’re able to at once achieve the spiritual planet… even if you make a little advancement, that guarantees us uh, for future progress and that saves us from so many great dangers. Just like we were praying this morning that just by taking the water that is o… used to bathe Krishna, that this protects one from dying, untimely. akala-mrtyu-haranam
