Spend everything for Krishna

Srila Prabhupad mentioned that there were some yogis or Gurus in India, they refuse to touch money. They don’t touch money. Actually they collect lacs of rupees every night, check account and they sign cheques, but officially they don’t touch money. Their secretaries handle it. So Srila Prabupad said that I don’t have any problem. I can take money with two hands. I’m not using it for myself. I’m only using it for Krishna. He wanted to do so many things for Krishna. But when devotees, even when they give a million dollars or greater, he would spend it all for Krishna, building nice temples, building nice facilities or serving in Krishna consciousness, to build nice facilities for the Lord, for propagating His message.

The Source of Deliverence

We think is the advancement of civilization is actually putting us into many more hardships. To counteract the hardships we have the machines. But then to maintain those machines is another hardship and so on. So things become very complicated unnecessarily. But sense gratification just becomes a headache. When we use that for Krishna, when we use anything and everything for Krishna, then it becomes a source of our deliverance. So the devotee wants the best for Krishna.

Everything is for Preaching

During the time of His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, he had an automobile. Now, everybody has an automobile, but he was actually using that for preaching. Actually when some of his sanyasis were going down to the drug store or something, then he brought a letter which said, ordering that for preaching you can use the vehicle to preach. But if you want to just go down to the market to get something, then just walk. So, the vehicle was there and it was a valuable thing then, not like now, you can’t live without a vehicle practically. Everything is so spread out.

Gratify your senses by service to Krishna.

The strong desires, lusty desires are keeping people in this bodily concept of life. So Prabhupad states that you need to take this tendency and purify it by engaging them in the service to Krishna. The strong desire to satisfy, gratify your senses can be purified by service to Krishna. Instead of wanting everything for our senses, we should want everything for the satisfaction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Srila Prabhupad wanted to have all the nicest facilities for Krishna.

The Society in the West

Srila Prabhupad mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita how Lord Krishna reveals that lust was the cause of our conditioning in material life. Srila Prabhupad portrayed the modern society, the society in the west which is more like a jungle and the competitors are like tigers or lions, where every competition is survival of the fittest. People become so frustrated that they commit suicide. They are misusing information for taking advantage and making more money.
So strong desires, lusty desires are keeping people in this bodily concept of life

What is spiritual Action?

Whatever we do there is a reaction is going to come. If we do something good we get good reaction. If we do something bad we get bad reaction. If we do some transcendental activity then to Vishnu directly there is no material reaction. This is spiritual upliftment.

The Goal of life is to realize god.

If we take out the objective then naturally everything else also becomes aimless. If you put in the objective, Prabhupad says you put so many zeroes without one it remains zero. If you put one in the front then everything becomes valuable. What is that one? One is the goal of life you should understand the goal. Goal of life is to realize god.

The objective of Life

Prabhupad explains how if goal of life is not fixed that the human society become aimless society. Economics are the only objective of the human society when it becomes godless society demoniac society so many crimes against nature and god will be performed. If world is actual to be actually peaceful world harmonious balanced world the objective of life has to be fixed. The objective is to reach god. To serve god. To realize the self and the supreme self.

What’s pleasing to Krishna?

Follow in the footsteps of great souls. But if we don’t follow their examples, and we just want to do our own thing, but we want to rubber stamp it is devotional service. It is not the same. Had Arjuna told Krishna, ’I won’t follow your instructions. I am going to go and become a mendicant Vaishnava. Wear tilak and chant and go around the forest. I don’t want to fight Kurusketra.’ Would he have been a greater devotee? Or would he have been a bogus sadhu? We have to understand that whatever we do, we have to do it with this idea, ‘What is pleasing to Krishna?’

The Practical understanding of Bhakti*

Priyavarta is following the orders of his superior authority even he is doing something less exalted he is managing the kingdom, rather than taking sanynas. We may have some doubt. We may express our doubt, ‘If I do this, I may be entangled in material life?’. Lord Brahma said ‘No. You have a blessing. You won’t be entangled. You always think of the lord.’ Someone may present their doubt. If I do this I have this doubt.’ Then some may say, ‘Yes, you are not so strong. Alright. You don’t do that. Do something else’. Or someone may say, ‘No. You can do this.’ Then we should try our best to do it. This is the life of the great soul.

Mind your Mind

one can always work in the consciousness, ‘I am doing my duty for Krishna, as according to the instructions.’ Otherwise away by the chariot of the mind from one thing to the next. So when devotees lose this faith, commitment to follow higher instruction, their mind tricks them, their intelligence tricks them. That the mind tricks the intelligence that ‘I cannot put my faith in anyone’. I have to just figure out everything myself. So this way the mind remains in control. Such people, they are not peaceful.

Act according to the higher authority

Prabhupada, we have a system; we should also work in this consciousness that I am working under some senior approval. Not to do independently, anytime changing one thing to the next. What to speak of others, who are not sannyasis, who are in any other order of life. Devotees. We should do very strictly according to the higher authority. Even the GBC members, they work under the GBC body. The service should be approved by the GBC body.

The Systematic Service

Prabhupada gave a principle even for senior preachers; we make our proposal to senior vaishnavas, ‘We want to do this preaching for this year, and then we take their approval or their order, even for the sanyasis’. Then for one year we do that service. Just don’t change in the year. How hard it is, you do, and it’s an order. And then, if we want again next year we can propose. sanyasi who is very much senior, independent type preacher, even Prabhupada, we have a system; we should also work in this consciousness that I am working under some senior approval. Not to do independently,

Service is order of my Guru

Krishna is very merciful. We are able to get our faith reconfirmed by actually sticking out even in spite of the difficulty. If we make all kinds of conditions to our service, then our mind will never be fixed. We want this thing; that thing; this has to be. We should just act according to the order. those devotees who are doing something not because this is the order of my Guru or this is my duty, but because of their own whims, their own desire, ‘I need this to be happy. I need that..’. Their minds are always changing. They are never fixed.

Obstacles are the test for ourself

Lord Chaitanya’s promise to deliver all the fallen souls, so Jagai-Madhai, they were delivered. And they were so fallen. How would people know the greatness of Bheeshma, if it hadn’t been sleeping on the bed of arrows, or lying on the bed of arrows, and in spite of such a painful situation, he is offering all the prayers and glories to Krishna. So similarly, in our own consciousness when some obstacles come up, it is also a test for our self, If we are teaching, we depend on Krishna, then actually this also increases our own faith.

*The greater insight*

We are trained to help people who are having bad days. So, this is our special duty. . Then one person said; “Whole my life I was working to be able to show my mother a good future, to cheer my mother, but my mother died. So what’s the use? I am working so hard, just for my mother, my mother is no more. So what am I working for? So today is a very bad day for me. The worst day.” So then he started to show Bhagavad Gita, show the verses, show “This is what life is. Your mother is still living. But her soul is going on. You should take this book. This will give you a greater insight to what is life and how to relieve our anxieties.”
